Social Security Fortnight :

A social security fortnight would be observed in West Bengal from January 1 to January 14 to popularise various social security schemes for the unorganised sector initiated by the West Bengal government. "We want to make people aware of various welfare schemes introduced for the marginal and backward people of society engaged in different occupations in the unorganised sector," state labour minister Purnendu Bose said announcing the programme. "If a beneficiary enlists his name at the age of 18 years and contributes Rs 25 against the state government's contribution of Rs 30 per month, at the age of 60 he will get Rs 2.5 lakh under the state-Assisted scheme of Provident Fund for Unorganised Workers (SASPFUW)", the minister said.

While nearly 22 lakh workers were registered under this scheme (SASPFUW) during the 34-year rule of the LF Government, in the last 18 months the state government had registered nearly ten lakh unorganised sector workers registered under the scheme, he said. The minister said that out of 7.30 lakh total number of workers enrolled under Building and Other Construction Workers Act (BOCWA) as on November 30, 2012, a total of 4.58 lakh were enrolled only during the last 18 months of the present government for various benefits.
Similarly, under the schemes for transport workers, a total of 43,857 workers were enrolled during last 18 months rule of the present government for various benefits, which was against a total enrolled workers of 89,554 since the beginning of LF government in 1977, he said. Besides, the state government has been able to reduce the mandays loss due to strike drastically, while almost all the jute mills and tea gardens are now open during their rule, barring closure in only two cases each, the minister said.

WB govt to clear Pay Commission arrears, bonus enhanced

Despite the pressure of over two lakh crore debt, the West Bengal government today announced it would clear 50 per cent of arrear payment to its employees after October 1 as per state's 5th Pay Commission recommendation. "The erstwhile Left Front government failed to give anything to employees despite the announcement of the pay commission. We gave 50 per cent arrears last year soon after we came to power, while the rest 50 per cent arrear will be given before Durgapuja this year," Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said. "This will result in a burden of about Rs 500 crore, but we are committed to clear the dues this year," the chief minister said after a discussion with Finance Minister Amit Mitra. The erstwhile LF government had announced the implementation of the 5th pay Commission recommendation effective from April 1, 2009. Simultaneously, announcing the festival ad-hoc bonus for the government employees and pensioners this year, Banerjee said that the festival bonus of Rs 2100 last year, both for Id-Ul-Fitr and Durgapuja, has been increased to Rs 2,500 this year. Festival bonus for pensioners has also been enhanced to Rs 900 this year from Rs 800 last year, she said. An instalment of 7 per cent arrear in DA would also be cleared by January next year, Banerjee said. The ceiling for the bonus has been raised to Rs 22,000 from Rs 20,000 last year. "This will entail an additional burden of Rs 450 crore on the state government," she said.

CKCO Will Resigned from the Labour Department

DEPARTMENT DIPRESSED C. K. C. O.

11/06/2012, Murshidabad, Atin Das (Organiser Secretary to CKCO Association) : Amit Kumar Saha decided to resign on 20/06/2012 from the post of Clerk with the Knowledge of Computer Operation due to various incidents came from the end of our beloved Labour Department. Mr. Saha was posted at Labour Welfare Facilitation Centre under Lalbagh Municipality of the jurisdiction of office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner – Lalbagh. He decided this due to cause of mentally great depression on Labour Department. As per his speech, each and every workers as permanent or contractual in any department have an increment, holidays as per government rules, but unfortunately CKCOs have no Holidays as per Govt. rules.
It is so serious matter against us that where we have achieved 30 days EL, 14 Days CL etc then how one bad mentality person  (B. Banerjee)  reduce those achieved holidays, same on D. A., Finance Department can increase 3% on each and every 6 months to all Government Employees (over 2,00,000) but a little bit of increment – 8 % increment to 71 employees and 16 % increment to 396 employees is unable to process on D.A. ? this is not a proper justice to us from our department, this is too much harmful to our mentality and creates a less productivity to our Department However we never reject any kind of work belongs to our department. As per report of Total West Bengal 58 C.K.C.O.s left this job out of 426, as they got better opportunity to another Govt. Job, 7 C.K.C.O.s left and one from Murshidabad (Mr. Saha) will left this job due to mentally depressed to our Department that no change in our Pay, Holidays, TA and medical security since from 1 and half year.
